Adding a little variety is nice. This is Quinoa Salad. Ingredients quinoa, mashed chick peas, sliced sweet peas, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, cucumbers, olive oil, lime, sea salt.
Quinoa is a great substitute for rice, even brown rice. It has as many carbs as rice, but has more protein and unlike rice it has all 9 essential amino acids and is a complete protein. Very Nice!
Detox Zucchini Spaghetti with Ground Turkey. I have found that instead of grating the zucchini I slice the squash into 1/4" thick strips. Otherwise it turns into a mushy mesh. I season the turkey heavily with lots of herbs and good sea salt to make sure it is the focal point of the dish. I probaly added some random veggies to if as filler. As always I squeeze lemon or lime on the avocado for
Ground Turkey tacos. Tacos are always a great detox meal option. Dont' be shy with the spices on the meat and salt. Keep in mind Morton salt is not as healthy as a sea salt or Keltic Salt. There are a couple of contradictions as you may have noticed. Rice and sour cream? But, there is no cheese! I don't judge myself but I try to stay as clean as possible when detoxing.
With the exception of one item (dessert) this is an ideal detox meal. Notice the plate is one-half full of veggies (even more with the soup) and only a single protein option. Eat tons of veggies with each detox meal to fill up, provide fiber and plenty of phytonutrients to power the liver.
This is a good detox meal. Upper left of plate is a corn tortilla casserole with is a bit starchy but otherwise pretty good. Two types of meat in one meal can place a bit of a digestive challenge on the stomach. Otherwise it was yummy and showed good food choices.
This is not for a detox, but is what my breakfast looks like about half the time. This is low calorie but full of nutrients. Since a smoothie is blended it is a bit "pre-digested" so it creates mostly just energy and not stress on the body. It's a great way to start the day. I sometimes add some frozen pineapple, half a banana, or even a chunk of sweet potato too. Oat milk is another option.
