This is an example of a Detox Approved Veggie Bowl. While doing a Functional Medicine Detox it is important to be creative and let go of perfection. The goal is to eat clean and enjoy the flavors given to the food.
This bowl has broccoli, celery, beans, cucumbers, avocado, hemp hearts, olive oil, Himalayan Salt, dried Oregano, a squeeze of Lemon. Yum! Its about 3 cups of food!
Healthy and Flavorful Chicken.
This is my favorite way to cook chicken. First I cook the onions with just olive oil and Himalayan Salt. Then, removing the onions, I brown the chicken on both sides being sure it is cooked through. With the browned flavor on the pan you can make an amazing gravy to finish up .
The best way to make Fajitas is in a cast iron pan! Cook the veggies first with olive oil and Himalayan salt. Once you remove the cooked vegetables add the sliced meat to a HOT pan. Cook the meat fast to avoid toughness. Season the meat with your favorite Fajita recipe and throw the veggies back in and serve it out of the sizzling pan.
These are the ingredients I put into our morning smoothies. ENJOY!
4-6 oz Coconut Milk or Oat Milk
14-16 oz Spring Water
1 Scoop Daily Fruit and Vegetable Blend
2 Scoops Daily Nutritional Support
3 Brazil Nuts ( for Thyroid Support)
1 Tbsp Raw Pumpkin Seeds
1 Cup Frozen Blueberries
Note: Exact measurements don't matter, but having a smoothie does. Because we blend this for a minute or two the smoothie
I use roughly a cup of frozen blueberries in our smoothies. The berries add an amazing dose of antioxidants and fiber to the smoothie. There are so many seeds and skin with a blueberry that there is not much sugar and because they are frozen they make the smoothie cold and delicious!
A Healthy Veggie bowl may have multiple colors of veggies, a great source of starch like sweet potato some leafy greens and chick peas, quinoa or hemp hearts for protein. Don't forget to add 1-2 tablespoons of your good oil...either olive oil or avocado oil. Even better would be 1/2 an avocado. Finish by squeezing half a lemon or lime and shaking some spices like oregano for added flavor.
